4 new programs for ABC Classic

ABC Classic will introduce four new programs in 2025 with Martin Buzzacott (pictured) also returning to the station after a six month adventuring break to host Weekend Brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 9am – 12noon.

ABC Classic will welcome award-winning First Nations soprano Nina Korbe to present The Musical Show at 8pm on Sundays. What’s On with Alice Keath will share a listener’s guide to Australia’s best classical concerts and live performances in their communities, Wednesdays from 6pm. Music Class with Genevieve Lang and Ed Le Brocq, on Saturdays following Martin Buzzacott, will deep dive into all your questions about classical music. Finally, Peaceful Piano (9pm Sunday) and Wind Down (Weekdays from 11pm) will both be hosted by musician and storyteller Taj Aldeeb, alongside music to calm, relax and soothe.

Program times and changes, commencing Monday January 20 are as below:

Classic Breakfast with Dr Megan Burslem airs Monday-Friday 6am-9am

Mornings with Russell Torrance moves to 9am-1pm

Classic Drive with Vanessa Hughes is now 3pm – 6pm

Mindful Music, Legends, Passenger and Game Show move to 6pm with Passenger also moving to Thursdays

Duet with Tamara Anna-Cislowska moves to 12pm on Sundays,

Saturday Baroque is now Weekend Baroque with Alice Keath, adding an additional day, now airing on Saturday and Sunday from 3pm.

• Australian and international concerts airing as part of the Lunchtime Concert with Genevieve Lang and Stéphanie Kabanyana Kanyandekwe continue at 1pm Monday to Sunday, and

Evenings with Joel Carnegie are now at 7pm weekdays.

ABC Classic has also unveiled this year’s Classic 100 Countdown theme: Piano. Listeners can nominate their favourite pieces for the piano, from solos to sonatas, the music you hammered out at piano lessons to concertos that fill a concert hall.

ABC Jazz will see business as usual with presenters Eric Ajaye (Jazz Legends), Monica Trapaga (The Dinner Set), Mal Stanley (Jazztrack and Jazztrack Live) and James Valentine (Upbeat) all returning.

There will be a change to the ABC Jazz Artist in Residence program. 50 artists have featured since 2000, the program will extend this year to include a new music performance, with each featured artist invited into the ABC Jazz studio for a solo recording session. The new edition of the program will launch in February with saxophonist Mike Rivett.
