5DN’s 2003 lineup brings back more talk

Talk personality Ray Fewings makes “a welcome return to Adelaide’s radio airwaves” in the Australian Radio Network’s revamped lineup for 5DN in 2003.

5DN General Manager Steve Rowe says the new on air line-up “is a direct result of listener feedback the station has received over the past 12-months.”

Ray Fewings parted company with 5DN late last year, a result of a major format switch that saw it change from all-talk to a Classic Hits music format.

Rowe told radioinfo: “Although Jeremy Cordeaux kept our talk perception alive in the mornings, the time-slot that suffered the most was nights. All of a sudden, FIVEAA had become the only commercial talk player in town and as a result, many of Ray’s long-time listeners were switching over by default. At 5DN, we think it’s time to give Adelaide’s (substantial) talk audience an alternative again.”

Fewings takes over the 7pm to Midnight weekday timeslot – and is “champing at the bit to give his long-time rival Bob Francis a run for his money again.”

5DN Breakfast also sounds different in 2003 – Network Ten sports identity Rob Popplestone replaces Keith Martyn as Jeff Sunderland’s new on air partner in crime. Sundo’s Big Breakfast is heard weekday mornings 5:30 to 9.
