The 251 reporting commercial radio licensees recorded total revenue of $774.2m in 2002-’03. Television licensees achieved an almost identical percentage increase, according to the ABA figures.

As a result of the increases in sector revenue, licence fees collected by the ABA rose to $216m, up 5.7%.

Of this, the ABA collected $16.3m from commercial radio services ($800 000 more than in 2001-’02). This total will blow out for 2003-’04, after the recent new FM licence auctions in Sydney and Brisbane.
