702 ABC Sydney listeners feature on Christmas CD

The team at 702 ABC Sydney says it
is spreading the Christmas spirit by inviting listeners to record
some of their favourite carols on a CD.

The result is Christmas Stars 2003, a collection of 12 performances by 702
listeners.

“Christmas Stars 2003” is the culmination of several months of searching,
auditioning and recording.

702 Marketing Manager Sara Harrington says:

“In the process we’ve uncovered considerable talent on
the other side of the airwaves. There’s an 11 year old jazz pianist, a gathering
of Sutherland Shire songbirds, three gospel-inspired kooky cabaret artistes, a nine year old boy soprano, a chorus of schoolchildren from Wiley Park and many
many more talented locals from all parts of Sydney. And then there’s the
surprise addition of the 702 ABC Sydney bonus track.”

Sydney-based vocal ensemble The Song Company held a Masterclass for the
finalists in the lead up to the recording sessions and were very impressed with
the quality of the winners.

One young finalist, Harry Sutherland, has even
received invitations to perform in a professional capacity around Sydney.

The artwork for the cover of the Christmas Stars 2003 CD was chosen from over 80 entries provided by primary schools across Sydney. Winner Claire Crosbie is an 8
year- old student at Bilgola Plateau Public School. Claire receives a $100 ABC
Shop voucher for her efforts, as well as a $1000 ABC Shop voucher for her
school.

The CD was produced by ABC Music and 702 Sydney and will be available in ABC Shops and centres around Sydney from this week.
