7HO on top, Triple M up and ABC down in Hobart: Xtra Insights

The latest Xtra Insights survey of Hobart, Tasmania saw not a lot of change in the top two stations in the region with ARN‘s 7HO still the leader, but down 1.0 to 21.2 for all audiences 10+. Behind them SCA‘s Hit 100.9 were also marginally down to 17.1. In breakfast 7HO’s Sarah, Mick and Johnno and Hit 100.9’s Dan and Christie were steady at 21.3 and 18.5 audience share respectively.

Greg Scealy, 7HOFM’s General Manager said:

“This outstanding result is a testament to the amazing relationship 7HOFM has with the people of Hobart. I’m so proud of our entire team for their hard work, creativity and most of all, their passion for this city. An 18.4% increase in our 10+ audience is out of this world!”

The biggest improvement was for SCA’s Triple M station whose new breakfast pairing of Kaz and Tubes saw significant growth, up 2.5 to 11.2. Triple j and ABC Radio Hobart breakfast are still ahead of Kaz and Tubes but unfortunately the largest listening losses were for the ABC and for their longstanding Hobart breakfast announcer Ryk Goddard particularly, down 4.5 for all audiences 10+, and with significant audiences losses in their key 40+ age demographics. Goddard was second in the breakfast race last survey.

Despite an overall positive survey 7HO saw 2.8 and 4.8 losses in mornings and afternoons respectively. Cumulative listening was very healthy in Hobart, across all age demographics and day parts.
