92.7 Mix FM raise $85,000 in one day

Breakfast and Drive teams get behind ‘Give Me 5 for Kids.’

92.7 Mix FM’s Mark & Todd were pitted against Caroline & Sami and hit the streets of the Sunshine Coast to find out who could raise the most money for the annual June fundraiser “Give Me 5 for Kids Month”.

Both teams started at 6am from the 92.7 MIX FM Studios, navigating the entire Sunshine Coast. Broadcasting all day, listeners were invited to choose which team they wanted to win.

Donations rolled in, and at the end of the day, Mark & Todd announced their impressive total of $35,450, but Caroline & Sami prevailed raising an incredible $50,350, with the 2018 fundraiser for “Give Me 5 for Kids Month” delivering a grand total of $85,800.

Mark Darin, 92.7 MIX FM Breakfast Announcer and Todd Widdicombe, 92.7 MIX FM Drive Announcer said, “It was a record-breaking amount! Congratulations Team Girls! See what you can do when you don’t go to the pub early! Sunny Coasters are by far the most generous people we’ve ever met! It’s no surprise the total keeps building each year, the hearts of the people are bigger than ten dancing bears”.

Caroline Hutchinson, 92.7 MIX FM Breakfast Announcer and Sami Muirhead, 92.7 MIX FM Drive Announcer said, “We think 92.7 MIX FM’s Give Me 5 for Kids is the best cause ever and we are just so grateful our listeners agree and trust us with their money! The best part of the day was probably backflipping into a pool…not how, we thought we’d be spending a winter’s day!”

The 92.7 MIX FM Team are well on their way of achieving their 2018 target of $600,000, bringing the total of funds raised since starting “Give Me 5 for Kids” (19 years ago) to almost $5 million.

The funds raised in 2018 will go towards medical equipement and family accommodation close to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, so patients and their families can stay together during treatment.
