96FM’s April Fools anti-prank

It was April Fools Day when Prime Minister Tony Abbott called into Perth’s 96FM on Blackers, Carmen and Fitzi’s breakfast show, leaving Blackers attempting to work out whether or not the call was a prank.

“This is Anthony Akroyd or somebody isn’t it. Its April Fools Day!”

It wasn’t.

Blackers grilled the Prime Minister on his personal history as a means of authentication, asking him his middle name and previous places of employment before conceding that anyone could get those answers off Wikipedia.

The purpose of Abbott’s interview was to send a senate election message, promising a prosperous economy to Western Australian residents before the polls open on Saturday 5th April.
