98five hits the campaign trail tomorrow to bring neighbourhoods together

98five will be throwing an epic All You Can Greet Street Party from four different Perth locations on Friday 17 June to help connect local communities.

Brekky with Kirste and Morro (6–9am weekdays) will kick off the ambitious all-day broadcast from the front lawn of the Cassidy household in Butler, with a breakfast barbecue provided by the generous family and free coffee provided by 98five friend, Paul with his ice-cream and coffee van.

Mornings with Mike (9am-noon) will make the short hop down to Darch to visit the Du Preez family with a morning tea provided for the street by Liza’s Kitchen.

JD on afternoons (noon-3pm) will be heading to the southern suburb of Secret Harbour to drop in on the Good Family, where Manic Expresso will also keep the cul-de-sac buzzing with free coffee, and Drive with Jeziel (3-6pm) will finish the Street Party in Padbury, broadcasting from the Beebe household, who will be providing a sausage sizzle. More party food will be supplied by Jester’s Pies.

Nine cafes across the CBD are also partnering with 98five on the day for Pay it Forward Friday — where customers can pay for an extra coffee alongside their own to continue to spread the generous spirit and community love.

It’s all part of 98five’s Vote for Hope month — where listeners can financially support 98five to have a greater reach into the lives of those feeling isolated in the community and fight today’s loneliness epidemic.

98five general manager Bevan Jones hopes the street parties can help connect neighbours who would otherwise be isolated.

“98five has always been about connecting people in community as we know relationships change lives,” Mr Jones said.

“We want to tackle loneliness in our community. Part of the problem is that normal people can feel isolated in their homes and workplaces. We realised that we can be a catalyst to connect people and families in Perth and WA. Meet and greet street parties are a great way to give neighbours an excuse to come together and have some fun.”
