The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick brought their team of kids overcoming obstacles like illness, bullying, and mental health struggles, The Underdogs, to centre stage at John Cain Arena Thursday night October 31 to be part of Melbourne United basketball game. The Underdogs: Basketball Edition got a standing ovation from Melbourne United and Sydney Kings fans playing a halftime mini-game with each child getting to take a shot and sink a basket.
The Underdogs got a pep talk from Melbourne United coach Dean Vickerman and ‘water-boy’ Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes plus pre-game messages of support from Tones and I, Olivia Rodrigo, Katy Perry, Allen Iverson, and Sir Richard Branson.
After the game, Underdog Sammy’s mother said:
“I was speechless watching those kids run out tonight. Their souls shined…this is a moment they’ll remember forever, and so will we.”
Fifi Box said:
“You absolutely smashed it! I am so proud of you all. You made me cry because I couldn’t believe how good you are. You walk with your heads held high and know that you did everyone so proud tonight.”
The party continues tomorrow night, Saturday November 2 when Fifi, Fev & Nick host Melbourne’s Biggest Party at 170 Russell, with live performances from Tones and I, Peking Duk, Illy, and more.
