ABC Classic wants to know your feel good songs for this year’s Classic 100

The Classic 100, from ABC Classic FM is back for 2024, this year asking for your favourite feel good pieces of music.

Last year it was favourite instruments, with cello coming in at No 1 after more than 171,000 votes. I recently went and saw a Candlelight Tribute to Coldplay and Imagine Dragons done by string quartet The Phoenix Collective. To show how much impact these classic countdowns are having violinist Dan from the quartet asked the audience how many had voted and if they know the winner? I was surprised how many said yes to both. Dan’s point was that violin was No 3 and the fiddle 33. He said they are one and the same, and if people had voted correctly violin would have been No 1!

The Classic 100: Feel Good this year celebrates the music that gets you dancing, makes you smile, inspires and uplifts. You can cast your votes via the ABC Classic 100 website up until 1pm AEST on Monday June 3. The countdown is on Saturday 8 and Sunday, 9 June on ABC Classic and the ABC listen app.

The Classic 100 in Concert also returns with the Classic 100: Feel Good brought to life in a special highlights concert by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Principal Conductor in Residence and the Concert’s Creative Director, Benjamin Northey, at Hamer Hall on Thursday June 20. Tickets and details are here.

This is the 23rd Classic 100. The archive of all the previous countdowns are here: https://www.abc.net.au/classic/classic100/archive/
