ABC Overnight’s Rod Quinn to take LSL for rest of 2025

ABC Radio Overnight’s Rod Quinn is taking long service leave from Sunday March 30 till the end of 2025. He hosts Friday to Sundays from 2am to 6am, with Trevor Chappell doing Monday to Thursday.
Warming the seat while Rod’s away will be Michael Pavlich who is already very familiar to overnight listeners having covered for Trevor when he moved to ABC Radio Melbourne Afternoons for a year and a half, replacing Jacinta Parsons.
When asked in an ABC interview if he missed daylight, and weekends, Rod said:
“Yes. Before Overnights I presented Weekends in Canberra for a couple of years, so I haven’t had a regular weekend off since about 2004. And people wonder why I take time off! But I do enjoy Mondays and Tuesdays off…but working Overnights can really play havoc with family life and trying to get things done during the day from Wednesday to Sunday. If my local council could ban leaf blowers and hedge trimmers that would help with my sleep, though.”
Hoping there’s plenty of sleep ins and lingering weekends before Rod returns refreshed in 2026.
