ABC Radio Perth looking for your stashed stationary

ABC Radio Perth, in partnership with WA charity Give Write, is collecting new and gently used stationary that we all have lying around as part of a new Stationery Stash appeal, collecting classroom supplies for WA children to be best-equipped to learn at school.

Throughout July donations bins will be in number of local schools, libraries, community centres and at the ABC Perth studios in East Perth. Give Write will then use the donations to recycle, repackage and re-gift to children in need.

ABC Radio Perth’s Breakfast presenter Mark Gibson said:

“So many of us end up with extra stationery supplies sitting around the home or office and it’s great to know that they can go to a good cause. This is also an opportunity to highlight the importance of giving schools the tools they need to help children succeed. Many families can’t afford to buy stationery when their kids head off to school and in some cases, teachers are reaching into their own pockets to ensure they have what they need.

I am delighted that the ABC Radio Perth Breakfast program can get behind such a great cause.”

Give Write CEO Monica Smith said:

“Whilst there are children all over WA attending school without basic educational supplies, the level of need is so much greater in regional areas. This places a huge burden on teachers in these schools, who are already facing higher cost of living pressures.

This appeal will make a massive impact on Give Write’s ability to get donated stationery to those who need it most.”
