ABC repairs 702 Tx after lightning strike

ABC 702 shut down its transmitter for a three-hour repair job early on Tuesday morning after it was struck by lightning in a storm over the weekend.

Areas of Sydney heard low signal or dead air between 1am and 4am, so that the transmitter could be fixed before the breakfast shift this morning.

The transmitter is located in Liverpool, an area that took the brunt of the Sydney’s Saturday night storm.

The breakfast program went ahead as planned with ABC 702 resuming normal transmissions at 4am.
