Ace Radio’s Lachlan Rooke and Donna Gladman Walk Out of the Shadows for Lifeline

To commemorate World Suicide Prevention Day on Tuesday, September 10, Coast FM and 3YB FM’s Lachlan Rooke and Donna Gladman will walk 9km in Warrnambool in memory of the 9 people lost to suicide every day across Australia, as part of Lifeline’s ‘Out of the Shadows Walk’.

While on-air between 11am and 1pm on Tuesday, the Ace Radio Network pair will step out in support of the cause and to support the important work of Lifeline South West Victoria, with the local community encouraged to jump behind the initiative, and even join in for a section of the walk with friends, family or colleagues.

Lifeline Community Engagement Coordinator Dan O’Keefe said the walk is a way to raise awareness, overcome stigma and commit to preventing further deaths by suicide:

“Things like this all lead towards people talking about it more, potentially people seeking help and getting help, or understanding where the help is. That’s why it is important we keep talking about that 13 11 14 number and what that represents, because if you are struggling there is no harm in reaching out.

Every time that there’s $39 donated, that is enough for one call to be answered on average, so if people do put their hands in their pockets for a great cause it can potentially save a life.”

Funds raised through the effort will support Lifeline’s 24/7 crisis support and suicide prevention services.

If you or someone you know is in crisis, support is available.
