ACRA week begins in Sydney

The Australian commercial radio industry is gearing up for its annual conference and awards ceremony this week at Sydney’s Luna Park.

Star of the show will undoubtedly be Monty Python legend and former BBC radio presenter John Cleese, who will open proceedings and give a keynote address.

John Laws is also set to make an appearance, a name that has been absent from many previous ceremonies, although the nationally syndicated talkback host did attend two years ago to coincide with his special achievement award.

The winner of last year’s Best Metro Music Presenter Bianca Dye is nominated again in three separate categories and says to radioinfo that she’s hopeful of some recognition come Saturday night.

“My ego wants to win best music personality again, because I don’t think it’s ever been done twice before by a chic, but my heart says I’m just happy to be there as a presenter.”
