The SCA Media Release said that Breakfast co-hosts Sarah King & Paddy Gerrard “will be hanging up the headphones.
“Sarah departs after 26 years with the station, and Paddy after 14 years with both 2GO and Sea FM.”
Gerrard told The Daily Telegraph the pair were called in on Monday and told 2GO was ‘changing direction for the breakfast show.’
“Sarah and Paddy have been valued members of the 2GO family and Central Coast community over the past 5 years together,” said SCA Central Coast general manager Leisa Wood. “We wish them all the best for the future.”
“Sarah was instrumental in the conception and success of Give Me Five for Kids, which has become a huge fundraising initiative for SCA. Paddy will be fondly remembered for his Gotcha Calls and also his fun larrikin sense of humour.”
Gerrard has expressed disappointment over the decision. ‘No one’s invincible but this is what I love doing. And we hoped we were doing a good job. I spoke to Sarah yesterday afternoon and, after 27 years, I think she’s a bit shell-shocked.’
It is understood station staff were called in for a meeting yesterday, where they were informed of the decision.
A new breakfast show for 2GO is yet to be announced.
The 2GO facebook page was inundated with comments about the change, mostly negative.
