Radio Packages

Producing short mini documentaries or ‘radio packages’ using sound alone is a creative storytelling challenge with great rewards. In this new two day intensive course you will learn how to make a ‘radio package’ with award winning radio journalist and presenter Martin Corben.

Mr Corben joined ABC Radio in 1990 working there until 2011 as a reporter, producer, presenter, cross media producer and Content Director at 702 ABC Sydney and ABC North Coast

This practical course will cover topics such as story telling ideas, how to plan a story, interviewing and writing techniques and basic editing and multi-track mixing. At the end of Day 2, you will produce a 3 minute package to play back to your class.

Date: 13 – 14 September

Advanced Voice Over

Take the next step. The Advanced Voice Over Weekend is a two day intensive and practical course aimed at building on the skills developed in the AFTRS Open Voice Over course or for those with some experience with professional voice over work to further polish their skills.

This intensive will cover commercial scripts for radio and TV, jingle singing, Radio/TV Imaging and developing characters.

A small group (maximum 6) and a focus on performance will allow for more on-mic time to work on strengths and weaknesses. The course also provides opportunity to identify an area of specialisation during practical sessions. At the end of the course you will receive a number of work parts that could form the basis of a demo tape.

Date: 20 21 September
