This year everyone will be in Melbourne including, we’re told, 9,000 Jehovahs Witnesses from across the globe who have booked out a swag of hotel rooms and hire cars. But they won’t be coming to the ACRAs.
Instead there’ll be a bunch of irreverent on air talent ready to shock and entertain. There’ll be new and reinvigorated radio on-air teams from around Australia vying for the coveted title of Best on Air Team.
Tickets are on sale right now for The National Radio Conference and the 26th Australian Commercial Radio Awards. The Conference will be held on Friday, 17 October at the Grand Hyatt and the ACRAs on the Saturday night 18 October at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre in the inner city suburb of South Wharf.
Radio’s gala awards night the ACRAs has grown in stature over the last 26 years. The production values and stage are now so large only a few venues throughout Australia are large enough to accommodate the 1200 plus radio industry insiders who attend each year for the sit down dinner, live Australian entertainment and presentation of awards across the 34 categories.
The National Radio Conference is an opportunity for provincial, regional and metropolitan radio industry representatives to hear from leading professionals on initiatives in the industry. Speakers address industry issues such as research, securing radio’s share of advertising, regulatory and legal issues and what makes good radio content.
ACRAs presenters and National Radio Conference speakers will be announced over the coming months.
