AFTRS PD Course applications closing this week

AFTRS still has some last minute vacancies in its online Commercial Radio Programming course for 2010, but applications close at the end of this week.

The course has been developed for commercial radio staff who aspire to their next career step, or for people already working as PDs who want to increase their knowledge and outlook.

The course begins on 15 February and is run online. A three day residential workshop is the highlight of the course in the first semester.

It provides an understanding of the elements involved in radio programming and requires participants to identify and apply skills and knowledge within a workplace context.

Participants will gain theoretical and practical knowledge relevant to commercial radio station programming, acquire skills in leadership and management, and better understand radio station structure, broadcast law and regulations. Also on the agenda is brand management, format clocks, rundowns, promotions and air checks.

In an email to the commercial radio industry, Director of Radio Mark Collier reminded the industry:

“With the extended closing date for applications only two days away, all indications are that we will receive only five to seven suitable applications but we need a minimum of 10 to run the course. . . If you have any staff, or know of any elsewhere whom you believe could benefit from this excellent course, could you please pass this on to them – they should call Rebecca or Kim at AFTRS on 02 98056586 as soon as possible.”
