AFTRS Graduate Diploma Radio students spent this morning with Ira Glass, creator and host of the worldwide broadcast and podcast sensation ‘This American Life’.

Ira generously offered to host a 90 minute journalism workshop with students from several universities including AFTRS.

AFTRS students were chosen exclusively to submit broadcast journalism pieces, and Ira critiqued their work live at today’s event. The students were overwhelmed by the compliments they received from their audio hero.

‘This American Life’ is heard each week by more than two million listeners on more than 500 public radio stations in the United States, Australia and Canada. Another 2.2 million download as a podcast.

It was the most popular podcast on iTunes until one of their staff created ‘Serial’, which has seen 10 million people downloading each episode.
