The Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) scholarship applications are now open for 2026 Award Course student intakes. There are more than 40 scholarships to assist with study including towards a Graduate Diploma in Radio and Podcasting.
These scholarships, including four new opportunities, prioritise access and equity and are a powerful investment in the future of Australian storytelling.
The Onbass Giant Steps Scholarship returns for its sixth year in 2026, with an increase in value from $22,500 to $30,000. Through the generous support of the Gentle Giant Media Group and the Onbass Foundation this scholarship helps students cover living expenses, relocation costs, study resources, and more.
The First Nations Creative Excellence Scholarship, supported by Kenneth Myer Fellowship Trust, provides opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and is awarded to one or more recipients each year based on creative excellence or equity.
For creatives aspiring to pursue a career in radio and broadcasting there are also the following scholarship options: the Glenn Daniel Smooth FM; Glenn Wheatley EON Innovation; Pariya Taherzadeh Radio and Podcasting; and CRA Regional Radio scholarships.

AFTRS Annual Open Day is on this weekend, from 9.30am to 3.30pm, Saturday 9 August, on campus at the Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park, Sydney.
