Ancient air check of Merrick Watts and Peter Helliar exhumed

The Highway Patrols’s EP, Peter Deppeler managed to dig up an air check from 20 years ago featuring Merrick Watts and Peter Helliar on Plenty Valley FM near the tiny Victorian town of Nillumbik. He was kind enough to share it with us.

Peter also tells us that Merrick’s latest genius invention, bordering on madness, The Carbeque, half car and half barbecue, is “getting huge.”

Of course now that Merrick’s landed his dream role with Meat & Livestock Australia almost everything the Highway Patrol does seems to involve meat.

The custom built Carbeque is a converted 1973 Ford Landau Coupe 351 V8 auto and Merrick describes it as ‘off its face’ like the pursuit special from Mad Max.

The world first Merrick & The Highway Patrol Carbeque will be unveiled in a special barbecue at Parramatta Mall in Sydney this Friday with a live broadcast of Triple M’s Merrick & The Highway Patrol.

Aussie car and barbecue fans are getting involved with V8 Supercar drivers Garth Tander, Lee Holdsworth and motorsport great Neil Crompton already confirmed to attend the first ever Carbeque grill session.
