Andy Muirhead replaces Ric Paterson at 936 ABC Hobart

Andy Muirhead will be the new 936 ABC Hobart breakfast presenter, replacing local legend Ric Paterson, who announced his retirement last month.

ABC Local Radio Manager Cath Hurley has told radioinfo:

“Andy is already well known to 936 ABC Hobart listeners through his role as the presenter of ABC TV’s flagship prime time program “Collectors” which is produced in Hobart.

“He’s also well known in the Hobart community as a performer on the comedy scene. Andy’s appointment means that 936 ABC Hobart listeners will continue to wake up with a smile on their faces in 2007.”

In his roles of host of ABC TV Collectors and stand-up comedian Muirhead has done extensive radio interviews all over the country. Earlier this year he got the chance to try life on the other side of the desk as a guest presenter on 936 ABC Hobart’s Afternoon Program.

He says that experience wet his appetite for this appointment: “I absolutely loved it. The thrill of working live is something that I love, whether it’s in front of an audience or over the airwaves. Anything could happen and usually does!

“The chance to interview interesting people live on air is a real buzz. I have been on the other side of that desk so much in the past (as an interviewee), it’s a lot of fun when the conversation just takes off in unexpected directions.”

Andy Muirhead will take up his new position as 936 ABC Hobart Breakfast presenter on Monday January 29, 2007.
