Austereo London Olympics winner announced

The Today Network has announced the lucky winner of its industry-targeted campaign centered around the London Olympics.

Today’s stable of top-rating stars invited media agency clients to Hit London with Fifi & Jules plus Hamish & Andy as part of a money-can’t-buy experience happening during the first week of the Olympic Games. The winner of the competition is Colette Murrells.

The campaign (see our earlier story) proved to be a huge success attracting more than 2,250 entries from media agency staffers. Southern Cross Austereo’s Nick Randall presented Colette Murrells, a Media Director at 2020 Media Sydney, with her grand prize yesterday.

Murrells said: “After recovering from the shock, I am super excited! – I cannot wait to experience London during this awesome time, taking in the Olympics, shopping up a storm, experiencing the local sites and catching up with Fifi, Jules, Hamish and Andy for a few drinks!”

Southern Cross Austereo, Director of Sales Sydney & National Sales Operations, Nick Randall said:We are thrilled that Colette Murrells from 2020 won the trip to London.  Colette is responsible for delivering some very progressive and innovative solutions across our SCA assets.  The Hit London promotion was definitely the most engaging, popular and far reaching trade initiative we have undertaken to date.  To showcase the depth and breadth of our communications solutions to so many in such a fun way is very satisfying.”

Anticipation is increasing in the lead up to Fifi & Jules’ week–long, live London broadcast set to capture all the excitement, emotion and energy from around London, culminating in an exclusive VIP party in the city with counterparts Hamish & Andy.  Murrells and a lucky friend have scored golden tickets to these events.

As part of the ‘Hit London’ campaign and staying true to Southern Cross Austereo’s (SCA) position as being first in media entertainment solutions, Network stars including Fifi & Jules, Kyle & Jackie O, Hamish & Andy and the Hot30’s Matty & Mel developed a week-long series of fun video messages that were targeted at media agencies during all of last week.

The campaign invited media agencies to enter the ‘Hit London’ competition by answering a simple question from the video packages which showcased client solution case studies such as Switzerland Tourism, Holden, Nissan, Cotton On and Sol Beer.

An EDM campaign was rolled-out to support the video messages which highlighted The Today Network’s work across content development, online, digital, mobile, social media, event platforms and of course FM and digital radio.

At the end of that first week, a selection of agencies were treated to scones and English Breakfast tea in ‘Hit London’ branded cups from a group of street teamers attracting plenty of attention dressed in various Britania themed costumes.

Southern Cross Austereo Head of Marketing, Nikki Clarkson said, “We created the ‘Hit London’ campaign to showcase Southern Cross Austereo’s unique and effective client solutions, encouraging engagement within agencies by involving key talent and ultimately offering a  money-can’t-buy experience”.

Meanwhile, at 3AW Melbourne, breakfast presenters Ross and John are also going to the Olympics, and have been preparing with their own series of Olympic exercises, including synchronised sitting, Long Jump & S#*t put, amongst other novel training activities. See their antics here.
