B105’s Abby Coleman achieves a cheerleading dream

Just six weeks ago Abby Coleman from B105 Brisbane‘s breakfast show Stav, Abby and Matt confessed to her colleagues that she’d always wanted to be a cheerleader. She’d watched the Netflix doco America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, and the mum of three boys really wanted to see if she could give it a go.
Her co-hosts Stav and Matt were so supportive they signed her up to compete in the Utopia Cheer Comp at Nissan Arena, and ably tried to assist in the training process. She also had encouragement some of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders who inspired her, including head choreographer Judy Trammell and Jinelle Esther.
The competition was held Sunday, August 18. As you can see below she did herself proud.
Abby said:
“What started off a a bit of a joke turned into a huge challenge when I realised I was responsible for catching a girl who was being thrown high into the sky and I was to be lifted up myself by my feet! Honestly, the cheer community is a whole new world I didn’t know about and I didn’t expect them to be so supportive – it was terrifying but I love it and now I’m resting my groin muscles from the high kicks”
