Barry Keohane has accepted the position of Content Director at 891 ABC Adelaide. Barry’s background is in commercial radio operations, management and consultancy. Over the past 20 years he’s been involved with content development and talent coaching for leading media companies, including SCA, ARN, Click Radio (Thailand).
Most recently Barry was in China where for the last 3 years he’s been General Manager of Content for 10 radio stations. Barry was instrumental in launching new stations to millions of people, developing strategies for revenue growth, and coaching staff on content development.
He has also been a valuable contributor to radioinfo where he’ll be sorely missed.
Barry told us, “I’m really looking forward to starting in Adelaide. As I said earlier in the year after moving back from China, I was happy to do my own thing and wait for the right job, and I feel that Content Director for 891 ABC Adelaide is perfect for me at this time. I’m looking forward to working with the content team, and continuing to create great radio. My first official job is to pick an AFL team to support. Port Adelaide or Crows?”
Local Content Manager, Local Radio SA, Graeme Bennett welcomed Barry, who starts November 9, telling staff, “Barry very much sees himself as a developer of talent and I see him as the perfect fit to advance our transition into digital platforms and to refocus on the advanced skills we require in modern broadcasting.”

I love the unique sound and content of Peter Goers on evenings.
Fail to understand why Michael Smyth on drive only begins at 4pm. 3pm would be a better start time.
Unsure why b'fast returns at 8:30am until 9am and steals the thunder for the morning show. Morning show needs to be more newsy but most topics gone due to b'fast.
Needs to ensure that networked shows are heard live. Coverage of the Abbott/Turnbull leadership challenge was embarrassingly in delay. For those driving beyond the 5AA coverage area, thankfully 594 Western Vic and 774 Melbourne are easily received across most of SA.
Also, why does b'fast only begin at 6am? Need to try 5am. Every Adelaide b'fast show starts late. The town is clearly awake prior to this.
