bay 93.9 Makes Geelong ‘Feel Good’

With global news delivering little comfort of late, bay 93.9’s Breakfast team of Mill and Nic decided to take matters into their own hands, live up to the station’s ‘feel good’ music position and make a real difference in their local community

They have been giving back to the Greater Geelong region with one simple question “What would make you feel good?”

And the response has been overwhelming.

Hundreds of listeners have answered, with requests such as warm blankets, winter clothes and firewood, to window repairs, dog grooming and even eyebrow tattooing.

The volume of entries reflects the economic struggles many are facing, with the majority of entries just asking for basic life essentials such as fuel, groceries, and bills.

When entries close next week (Friday May 8th), bay 93.9 will have granted over 50 locals their ‘feel good’ wishes and shared many beautiful (and some heart wrenching) stories, such as Gordon from Norlane, an ex-homeless war veteran without any fridge or washing machine, he was freezing bottles of water just to keep his milk cold.

With this promotion shining a light on how acts of kindness can make such a difference, Mill said “We’re grateful for the support and investment that our business has provided to back our idea, and for so many station partners, (many small businesses too) who have helped us make some many deserving people ‘feel good’”.

bay 93.9 is encouraging final entries via its website, with the biggest gift to the community announced on air today: 90’s ‘fun-hit wonder’ artist Joanne will be performing her hit Jackie with a 60 minute set at the Piano Bar on Malop St, free to the public.

This follows the announcement that the Piano Bar will be closing its doors permanently after more than a decade.

bay 93.9 invites the Geelong community to join the team, as they celebrate the local institution’s final weeks, as well as an incredible two months of giving back to the local community.
