‘Bed’ you didn’t see this coming: AirCheck

Chart Highlights  –  29 July 2021

  • Heating Up: Joel Corry, RAYE & David Guetta bounce back with ‘Bed’.
  • High Point: Jolyon Petch can only dream at No. 2.
  • Biggest Mover: KSI’s ‘Holiday’ rises 55 frames to debut in the Top 40.

Joel Corry, RAYE & David Guetta enjoyed a radio resurgence this week with ARIA Gold single ‘Bed’ back up to No. 12 from No. 18 on the AirCheck National Radio Airplay Chart. It’s the trio’s highest peak since mid-June thanks to a big uplift in spins from the national Nova network (+43.2%) and SCA’s metro stations (+35%).

It’s more green arrows for Jolyon Petch with ‘Dreams’ rising 3 frames. The track notched another +16.7% increase in spins nationally, on top of a +34.6% jump the week before, and now sits just behind Ed Sheeran’s ‘Bad Habits’ which remains in the top spot for a fourth consecutive week.

The Kid Laroi & Justin Bieber’s ‘Stay’ remains steady at No. 3, adding an extra 25 plays. Every spin seems to count at this point, with only 22 plays separating No. 2 and No. 5. This week once again sees The Kid Laroi become the highest-charting Australian artist, with that title formerly belonging to Vance Joy, who slips down to No. 4 with ‘Missing Piece’.

The lower end of the chart sees UK YouTuber and rapper KSI sneak in at No. 39. ‘Holiday’ was by far the biggest mover, up from No. 94, with strong spin tallies on The Edge Sydney and Nova. It remains to be seen if the rest of commercial radio will jump on board.
