Ben Armarfio takes his bat and ball to Cricket Australia

Southern Cross Austereo’s Melbourne General Manager Ben Amarfio has resigned to take up a prestigious role working for Cricket Australia.

He will leave Austereo on 5th September, 2012 for the position of Cricket Australia’s General Manager of Marketing, Digital and Communication.

Armarfio joined Southern Cross Austereo in February 2007 and quickly established himself as a prominent leader both in the Melbourne market and across the wider company.

During his time with Austereo he has achieved outstanding results for the Melbourne business. Recently, from a ratings perspective, FOX and Triple M have dominated the FM ratings with regular #1 and #2 ratings positions.

Some of his highlights over the 5 years include:

  • Leading the project team for the $20m+ build and relocation of SCA Melbourne’s new studios and national digital headquarters in South Melbourne in 2008
  • Overhaul and relaunch of Triple M in Melbourne, including new brand, programming and music strategies, and new Breakfast and Drive shows
  • Maintained Triple M’s dominance as the #1 football radio broadcaster in Melbourne for all people Under 55 which attracts more cume audience than any other commercial radio football broadcaster
  • Led the teams who raised over $2.2m in pledges for the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal

SCA is a wonderful organisation, filled with the best and most talented media professionals in Australia,” says Armarfio.

“I am really very proud of what we have collectively achieved over the past 5+ years.  Moving forward, I know SCA will go on to even greater heights and I will remain a very passionate supporter of the business and all within it.”

The Southern Cross Austereo team wishes him luck as he moves into the next phase of his career.
