Ben & Liam Kayak to K.I.

So far in 2021 Nova 919’s Ben & Liam have got Adelaide talking.

The boys broadcast an entire show suspended from a billboard in the Adelaide CBD, Liam ran a marathon with absolutely no training and most recently they spent an entire week in a glass box in the middle of Rundle Mall whilst raising over $90,000 for Lifeline Adelaide.

On Tuesday, the boys achieved their next big challenge, taking to the seas and kayaking eleven nautical miles through shark infested waters, paddling to Kangaroo Island.

Not a simple task, the voyage required perfect weather, so after waiting patiently for the all clear to start their journey, on Monday afternoon a ‘foghorn’ sounded, signalling that the time had come for the boys to start the journey.

After broadcasting their Nova 919 breakfast show from the Cape Jervis Hotel on Tuesday morning, at 9am Ben & Liam set course for Penneshaw, paddling a two-man kayak through Backstairs Passage.

After roughly four hours the boys finally achieved their goal beaching ‘Salma Kayak’, their shiny red kayak on the pristine white sand of Kangaroo Island.

An exhausted Ben & Liam said: “We’re both completely cooked. Do we regret it? No. Would we do it again? No. We rode our trusty vessel  “Salma  Kayak”  hard  and  fast (slow) but we made it and we’re stoked.”
