The community broadcasting sector’s lobbying of political candidates in the upcoming election is in full swing.
As part of this campaign, Radio Adelaide have established a brand new program entitled ‘Pollywaffle’, which will profile the leading candidates from the 11 different South Australian electorates.
‘Pollywaffle’ is an interactive program where listeners are encouraged to call or email with questions for their local candidate, giving them the opportunity to ask the hard questions outside the controlled environment of most public interactions.
Deb Welch, Station manager of Radio Adelaide, told radioinfo:
“Community radio has always been a leader in promoting democratic communication and participation. ‘Pollywaffle’ will inform people about where their potential representatives stand on local issues and help them to feel connected to their local politicians. This will surely increase participation in the political process during a time when so many people are disillusioned by all the spin.”
