Bob Brown speaks of Jimi Hendrix while Daryl Manzie’s in Greece

While regular Darwin’s 104.1 Territory FM morning host Daryl Manzie is holidaying in Greece, a series of Northern Territory personalities have filled in. Although having limited on-air experience, they’ve been a great success.

The most recent, Damian Hale, Member for Solomon spoke to Tasmanian Greens’ Senator Bob Brown who fascinated listeners as he told Damien about being the duty Doctor in a London hospital emergency room the night the body of Jimi Hendrix was brought in.

Hale also spoke to former opposition leader and soon-to-be ambassador to the EU based in Belgium, Brendan Nelson Health Minister Nicola Roxon and Shadow Treasurer Joe Hockey. As if that line-up wasn’t enough, he even squeezed in a call to Treasurer Wayne Swan in Pittsburgh for an update on the G20 Leaders Summit.

Territory FM General Manager Peter Perrin told radioinfo, “We are looking forward to Daryl’s return but our program manager, supported by the program committee, has done an outstanding job in developing a sensational roster of talent to cover his break. I don’t know of many other stations – commercial, community or otherwise – who can boast the line-up of guests our special hosts have spoken to over the last 6 weeks, it’s been stellar.”

104.1 is in the process of launching its new website, partnering with Nine Darwin to simulcast the local 6pm news – and in February 2010 will upgrade its studios to digital in anticipation of DAB+.
