Brisbane station claims most ACRA nominations

As stations and networks dissect page after page of ACRA finalists for this year’s 25th annual Australian Commercial Radio Awards (ACRAs) the PR teams get busy highlighting their team’s achievements.

Naturally, one would expect the biggest network to get the most finalists. And on that score SCA  didn’t disappoint. They have a whopping 127 ACRA finalists. Their most successful market is the Gold Coast where they landed 18 ACRA finalists across both brands, Gold and Sea.

We’re told that, by Nova 106.9 Brisbane’s count, it has received more finalist nominations than any single radio station in Australia with representatives in a total of 13 categories including two national Brisbane based teams/divisions.

“We are so lucky to have such outstanding performers across every facet of our business in Brisbane, we also love a party so can’t wait for the awards night on October 18th,” said Jay Walkerden, General Manager/Program Director, Nova 106.9.

Meanwhile, over in Perth, Nova 93.7 is celebrating with fa more modest four ACRAs finalists which is more than any other Perth radio station.

Daniel Underhill, is a finalist for Best Program Director, for the second year in a row.

Integration and Marketing Director, Madeleine Hubbard, is a finalist for Best Promotions Director which is likely the reason that two of Nova 93.7’s promotions from the last 12 months are finalists for Best Station Promotion.

Nova 93.7’s Managing Director, Gary Roberts, said, “Once again this year, Nova 93.7 leads Perth’s commercial radio stations in national recognition. To receive four nominations is a brilliant result for the team and another milestone for Nova 93.7, which continues to have the most listeners of any Perth radio station with more than 500,000 listeners every week.”

As a network, ARN can claim a haul of 31 nominations, a record for the company, across 21 categories, from a total of 260 entries in Metro markets.

Three of ARN’s top on-air talent teams are set to battle it out for honours in the prestigious Metropolitan Best On–Air category.

Can KIIS 1065’s Kyle and Jackie O follow up last year’s victory and make it back to back wins in the coveted Metropolitan Best On-Air Team FM?

Will 2012 winners and stablemates Jonesy & Amanda at WS FM101.7 take out the top honour?

Or will Tim ‘Rosso’ Ross and Matthew Baseley come home with the top prize for their work on Rosso On Drive on KIIS Sydney and Mix 101.1 Melbourne?

ARN also landed two nominations for Best On-Air Team – Country and Provincial with Mike E & Emma, The Edge96.ONE’s breakfast show, and Scotty & Nige on 104.7 in Canberra (JV with SCA) up for the award.
