Bundaberg Broadcasters appoints new local journalist

Bundaberg Broadcasters’ radio stations 4BU and Hitz 939 have appointed Johanna Marie as their resident local journalist.

A recent graduate from Griffith University, Johanna has a background in radio announcing with community station Radio Metro and 101FM Logan City, and news experience with 4BC/4BH, having been mentored by 4BC News Director Scott Mayman.

Grant Broadcasters remains committed to producing local radio content on Hitz939 and 4BU, said Bundaberg Broadcasters’ General Manager Trish Mears.

“It is very important that we deliver up-to-date and relevant local news to our listeners,” she said. “We’re very pleased to welcome Johanna to Bundaberg, to not only deliver news from around our region, but also to foster new talent”.

The new local news service is just one of the programming initiatives being launched by Bundaberg Broadcasters on Monday 20th August. Billy Healy will be presenting “Wide Bay Today” from 9am til 12 noon weekdays, a locally produced show featuring local issues, personalities and events from around the region; as well as listener interaction and music.

Billy Healy says about his new show “Wide Bay Today”, “if you live in the Bundaberg region, we’ll let you know what’s going on in your local area and, in fact, the whole of the Wide Bay, between 9am and noon weekdays. We’ll also have fun, and help local organizations and individuals who are helping others”.
