Can this pair win the Breakfast race in Sydney? Find out this morning at 9:30 on radioinfo

UPDATE: Survey 4 Results now here.

As we get ready for GfK Survey 4 today, here’s a recap of the main takeaways from Survey 3

  • Talk radio falls, music radio gains
  • Nova Brisbane regains top position with B105 falling. 4KQ picks up listeners.
  • Ben Fordham’s 2GB breakfast drops, ABC Sydney now within 0.4 of top breakfast spot. Today marks one year on breakfast for Fordham.
  • 3AW down in Melbourne. Gold FM Breakfast third on the day Christian O’Connell releases his very personal new book.
  • Kyle and Jackie jump, triple j up in Sydney
  • SAFM falls
  • ABC Perth rises

After the last Survey, Nova Entertainment’s Content and Marketing Chief, Paul Jackson suggested that smooth 95.3 could overtake 2GB for the number one spot – after all, it now sits only 0.9 behind the Sydney market mortgage holder. He also suggested that Kyle and Jackie O could win Breakfast if they can bridge the slender 0.6 gap between them and GB’s Ben Fordham. But they’ll have to leapfrog the ABC’s Wendy Harmer and Robbie Buck who are on a 13.1 share, just 0.4 behind Fordham.

The competition has never been as close to toppling 2GB in almost 20 years. Will the perennial champ kick again or finally succumb to generational change in a shifting market?

In tomorrow’s survey coverage, we’ll also take a close look at cumulative audience results, which is a different way of measuring market leadership. In the upside down world of cumes, Melbourne’s FOX is the nation’s #1 station while GOLD104.3 is in 10th place.

We’ll have the DAB+ results across the nation too.

At present Coles Radio remains at the top of the Digital ratings in GfK Survey 3 with 231,000 listeners nationally.
ABC Jazz (178,000) and Double J (171,000) both moved in front of MMM Classic Rock (162,000)

In Sydney 2CH dropped away to just 39,000, down from 63,000 in Survey 2, while Edge Digital has consolidated its position at the top, gaining 24,000 for a total of 127,000, in front of ABC Jazz and Coles Radio, both on 64,000
