Carly and Dane start the conversation

For the month of November men grow what Carly calls “hairy upper lip worms” all in support of various men’s health issues.

One of them being mental health.

Therefore this month Carly and Dane from 99.7 Star FM decided to shine a light on this issue after hearing about a few local people struggling.

Each week they spoke to someone surrounding the issue from community ambassador for R U OK Day Karen Snidero about where people can locally get help to a local guy Chris Mcgregor about his battle with depression.

To wrap up the month Carly and Dane teamed up with the Calo’s Riders Club to put on a screening of locally produced DVD “Our Stories of Depression”  at the Griffith Regional Theatre and arranged for speakers at the end of the DVD such as John Harper from Mates helping Mates and local counsellor Janelle White who were also on hand to speak to anyone who needed help.

Around 100 people showed up.

Carly and Dane set out with one goal, if they could help just one person their job is done.

On the night they heard of someone who travelled a large distance to be there after a mental breakdown and is now seeking professional help.

A woman who was also struggling came up after to say she is now seeking help.

Take a brief look at “Our Stories of Depression“.
