They had themselves a convoy.
The 20th annual i98 Illawarra Convoy took place today, Sunday November 17, 2024, an event that had already raised more than $25 million for the Illawarra Community Foundation and families affected by life threatening and life limiting illnesses. This year, before the Convoy even begun, an astonishing $1.6 million had already been raised for the Foundation.
Tiny Tins and Wollongong Crane Trucks led the trucks in the Convoy after a phenomenal $300,020 donation. 2023 Lead Truck bidder, Menai Haulage donated a huge $222,281 and MJ Rowles $110,000 showing just why the Convoy is so special to the Wollongong community. Coles Illawarra led the motorbikes for the 4th consecutive year donating an incredible winning bid of $220,220. Peter Anderson, the Regional Manager for Coles however offered the Lead Bike position to Kris from second-placed Throttle Jockies, facing his own cancer battle in a beautiful act of generosity and support.
i98 was ahead in the recent Xtra Insights survey of the Wollongong region, which was in itself a win for local radio. At the recent Australian Commercial Radio Awards (ACRAs), i98’s commitment to local was rewarded with Cam Hilder receiving the award for Best Music Host (Provincial) and the Convoy for Best Community Campaign (Provincial).
Funds raised have assisted over 720 families in the Illawarra and South Coast as well as contributed over $4.3 million to the Wollongong Hospital Children’s Ward redevelopment and contributions to other charities.
