Changes in 2GB Newsroom, Jones still on the sick list

When she returns from covering the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Nat Peters will be moving in to the breakfast newsreader’s chair, with Mat Woolfrey as her editor.

Nat continues as Deputy News Director, working for News Director Erin Maher, who is afternoon reader and editor

The 2GB breakfast news team will be joined by Chris Warren as the sport reporter. Chris has plenty of experience in this field, especially NRL. Most recently, he was working for Fox Sports and doing some sideline commentary for the Continuous Call Team.

On the other side of the day, Amie Meehan will be making a comeback as Drive Reader and Editor.

2GB is Sydney’s leading station, with Alan Jones’ breakfast shift scoring about 20% higher than its nearest competitor, at  a 17 share of the market.

Alan Jones was scheduled to come back to work this week, but is recovering in hospital from back surgery. He told fill-in breakfast presenter Chris Smith that he is not sure when he will return. Listen here.

Jones told Smith that he had surgery for an old injury, plus a cyst in his back. “It’s my third surgery on my back. Not much left to attack now. They will be able to say to me one day that I’m spineless, but not just yet though.”
