Cherry picking ABC Board member

The Federal Opposition kept pressure up on the issue of who will replace Michael Kroger on the board of the ABC after his retirement this month. Senator CHERRY moved: .

That the Senate—


(a) notes that the term of Michael Kroger as an
Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC)
director expired on 5 February 2003; and

(b) calls on the Government to ensure that the next
person appointed as an ABC director has expertise
in broadcasting or communications in line with
the spirit of section 12 of the Australian
Broadcasting Corporation Act 1983, rather than
political connections.
