Christian Broadcasters unhappy with CBAA code proposal

The board of the Association of Christian Broadcasters (ACB) says it is disappointed that the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia didn’t take their submission on Australian music quotas into account during CBAA’s recent Codes of Practice review.

The ACB was arguing for a drop to a minimum 10% Australian content requirement for Christian radio, half of the current 20% for most formats. However, the CBAA has adopted an increase to 25% for most formats, including “Christian,” bringing Community radio into line with most Commercial stations. Only ethnic and classical music Community stations remain at 10%.

The new CBAA Codes of Practice will be a prime topic at the CBAA’s upcoming conference in Canberra.
