ABC digging up Cruel Sea for on-line radio launch

On Friday 22 November, DIG internet radio will officially launch at the Queenscliff Music Festival in Victoria, with a special set from one of Australia’s premier bands – The Cruel Sea. Their performance will be streamed live on DIG from 7:10pm AEDT, and also played on Radio National’s ‘Live On Stage’ program.

Director of ABC Radio, Sue Howard told radioinfo: “We’re very excited to have The Cruel Sea and the Queenscliff Music Festival involved in the DIG launch, as this is a major project for the ABC and it emphasises our support for local Australian talent.”

DIG is the first internet radio station from the ABC, and caters for a 30+ music audience that are interested in a diverse range of music, including blues, roots, folk, rock, electronica, country, jazz, funk, and R&B. It provides non-stop music and a range of special features, including music news, reviews and interviews. DIG is available through ABC Online (abc.net.au/dig), and its continuous music stream is also on digital television (channel 200).

The ABC will also have several of its announcers and personalities at the Queenscliff Music Festival, including Derek Guille from 774 ABC Melbourne, Paul Petran from Radio National and the kids perennial favourites – Bananas in Pyjamas.
