Clive Dickens, Joan Warner and Gavin Parry to address Broadcasting Summit

The Australian Broadcasting Summit will begin on February 26.

The radio stream will feature Clive Dickens (COO, Absolute Radio (UK), Joan Warner (CEO of Commercial Radio Australia), and Gavin Parry (Executive Vice President Digital and Business Development, Asia and ANZ, Sony Music).

Dickens – an international keynote speaker – is Co- Founder & Chief Operating Officer of Absolute Radio, Director of RadioPlayer and a Trustee for the Radio Academy.

Responsible for the development of the Absolute Radio brand, Dickens has kept music central to Absolute Radio, with a commitment to more live music and the ‘No Repeat Guarantee’. He has also brought comedy to the forefront of the station’s proposition with two high profile talent signings in the form of Frank Skinner and fellow comedian Dave Gorman. In 2011 the station picked up seven Sony Awards with fifteen nominations – more than any other commercial station in radio history.

Topics in the radio stream are diverse. Warner will address the successes in commercial radio in the previous 12 months, how to maximise advertising opportunities in the digital wave, and how to create lasting cross-platform partnerships in radio.

Parry will speak on how to effectively measure your audience, how to translate ratings into real-time audience engagement, and gaining greater ROI from your content.

Dickens will address the latest and emerging strategies in combating the hybrid radio evolution, examples and case studies from Europe of utilising technology for the ‘on-the-move’ consumer and listener, and measuring the success of specifically targeted premium content.

Steve Ahern, Managing Director of Ahern Media Training and founder of this website, will chair the radio stream.

The Chairman of ACMA, Chris Chapman, will also speak on day one. Before joining ACMA, Chris held a number of senior management positions with Babcock & Brown, Optus, Stadium Australia Management and the Seven Network.

New to the 2013 conference are 12 ‘Break-out Sessions’, to be held on day two. These sessions will explore the latest in emerging technologies and their effect on the broadcasting industry. Small in size, the break-outs ensure hands-on learning, quality facilitated discussion and valuable networking opportunities.

Day two will also feature an executives panel discussion on the Australian media landscape, featuring John Steedman (CEO, Group M Australia), Rick Ellis (Group Managing Director, Telstra Media), Kim Dalton (Director of TV, ABC and Chairman, Freeview) and Brett Savill (Strategy and Corporate Development Director, Broadcast Australia).

The conference will run from 26-28 February at the Sydney Convention Centre. Registrations details here.
