Coleman meat in sandwich on two London stations

Jonathan Coleman is caught between two London radio stations.

In the latest twist in the saga following Jonathan Coleman’s axing from Heart FM, LBC will not release him from his weekend contract, delaying his start on BBC breakfast until October.

Coleman is on BBC London every day from 3 – 5pm and then on LBC on Saturdays and Sundays.

“I’m working a 7 day week for two huge rivals”, he has told radioinfo. “I’m the meat in the sandwich”.

LBC have told Coleman that they believe once he starts on breakfast it will damage the Heart FM breakfast show and also damage the LBC show.

Since he left Heart FM, they have slipped to number three in the ratings, losing 252,000 listeners.

After all contractual obligations are completed, Coleman is expected to start on BBC breakfast about October 14.
