Sydneysiders hoping to do a quick Maccas run at The Strand Arcade last Friday instead walked into a full-blown pop-up gig, as 2DayFM launched its first-ever Secret Set, headlined by DJ CYRIL who even found time to make a quick quarter pounder.
The McDonald’s restaurant was packed to capacity with 2DayFM listeners and fans for the surprise 30-minute performance. CYRIL delivering his biggest hits and then jumped behind the counter to make a quarter pounder.
CYRIL said:
“I’m really excited to be performing at McDonald’s for 2Day’s first Secret Set! Both 2Day and McDonald’s have played important roles in my journey. 2Day was one of the first radio stations globally to back me, and my Macca’s bucket hat holds a special place in my heart.”
McDonald’s character Grimace made an appearance with 2DayFM’s Nath Roye, Emma Chow and Seany B on hand to host the chaos.
The 2Day Secret Set concept is designed to remove barriers between artists and fans, bringing live music directly to listeners in unexpected locations. No stadiums. No schedules. Just up-close, high-energy performances in places you wouldn’t expect. There’ll be more to come too, revealaed across 2DayFM’s social channels in the coming weeks.
You can listen to Nath & Emma on Sydney’s 104.1 2DayFM from 6-9am weekdays and also on LiSTNR.
