Dan Hill departs SCA and commercial radio

After nearly two decades in broadcasting, mostly with SCA, with two Best Music Director (Provincial) ACRAs under his belt and his final role as Music Director, Operations and Network announcer for the top rating Brisbane station B105, Dan Hill is stepping away from commercial radio to a new role as a Business Development Manager at ICOM, a global leader in radio communications.

Dan said on LinkedIn:

“I’ve made the decision to step away from an industry I love dearly to try something new and see what else I can accomplish in my professional life.

I’ve loved radio since I was a kid.

I used to call in to Captain Turntable (Corey Layton), Chris Dzelde and Andy Grace on TTFM, do listener intros on Triple M with James “Turbo” Anderson, and — like any kid who absolutely loved radio — set up home stations, obsess over formats, dive into community radio, and eventually take a leap of faith into my first commercial radio job in 2006.

It’s been just shy of 20 years in the industry, and as the business continues to evolve — for better or worse — one thing will always remain true: my unwavering love of radio.

As this chapter closes and a new one begins, I’m proud to leave the industry on a high with our little station in Brisbane, B105, on top. I have so many memories and friendships that will last a lifetime, and stories that will no doubt outlive us all. I want to thank each and every one of you for your love, support, guidance, and contributions — big or small — over the past 19 years.”

Dan’s radio experience has seen him hold Music, Content and Technical director roles as well as on air, production and operational ones for SCA stations in Brisbane, Melbourne, Townsville, Perth, The Gold Coast, Sydney, Newcastle and brief periods with K rock in Geelong and Snow FM and 2XL in Jindabyne. He commences with ICOM on Monday April 28.
