David Oldfield gets gig on GB

Just in case any of its listeners were feeling that 2GB was in danger of turning into a den of caffe latte drinking, chardonnay sipping, tree hugging pinkos while their regular stars go on holidays, the station has shored up its right leaning line-up for summer with former Pauline Hanson aide, David Oldfield.

Oldfield, a one-time Liberal Party staffer and until recently an independent state MP in NSW, has been a regular on 2UE’s afternoon show with John Stanley as the conservative side of a weekly political debate against someone with leftist views.

Apart from radio, Oldfield has been a contestant on the hit television show Celebrity Survivor. On their website Oldfield say of himself, “The general view of people who are in politics is that they are sneaky, crooked and dishonest and I’m actually not like that,” he says. “I’m not the sort of person that is able to make grubby deals. If I tell somebody I’m going to do something, I do it. So I’m not your classic publicly perceived politician with back room dirty deals, doing people in and lying to them – which is probably a tremendous advantage if you are all of those things where this show is concerned! So I have to be careful in that people might have a negative perception of me.”
