In Indonesia, a former announcer has been arrested after calling a radio station to report a fictitious deadly car bombing.

Dedi Hartono reportedly made up the story ‘because there was no earth shaking news’!

Jakarta news station, Elshinta, received a call reporting that a car bomb had exploded outside a disco in western Java, killing two people and damaging several cars.

The news, picked up by foreign news agencies, proved to be a hoax.

Hartono says he had previously called Elshinta to report a typhoon and a landslide.
