DMG sells Sunshine Coast’s Hot 91 to Rob Gamble

DMG Radio has sold a majority ownership share (just over 85%) of its Sunshine Coast station Hot 91 FM to Rob Gamble’s company Queensland Media Investments for an undisclosed sum.

DMG was required to off-load some of its holdings in the Brisbane/Sunshine Coast licence areas after it bought the new Brisbane licence for $80 million in April. The station will begin test broadcasts next month for an early 2005 launch as Nova.

DMG could have sold out of its half interest in the other new Brisbane FM station 97.3FM, but decided to keep its share of that station, which it owns jointly with ARN.

New owner Gamble, who previously ran DMG’s regional network and before that was part owner of his father Ray Gamble’s regional radio company, says current management of the station will remain in place.

With the Gamble family name now back in the regional radio business who knows where Rob Gamble may pop up next – 2AY or 4TO perhaps? See radioinfo’s other story on Macquarie Banks consolidation of the Townsville and Albury markets.
