The fifth digital radio ratings survey results of 2017 have been released.
The survey was conducted for Commercial Radio Australia between Sun May 28 to Sat Jul 1 & Sun Jul 16 to Sat Aug 19, 2017.
In Melbourne, ABC music stations scooped the pool, with ABC Jazz taking top spot, closely followed by Double J and Coles Radio
Coles Radio consolidated its lead in Brisbane, with ABC Grandstand in 2nd, followed by Double J.
Three stations shared top spot in Adelaide: Smooth, Coles Radio and The iHeart Radio.
And, despite posting three-point falls, Smooth and Buddha Radio maintained their lead in Perth, followed by Double J and ABC Grandstand, which slipped to 3rd from 2nd in the previous survey.
The DAB+ summary report shows the cumulative audience for digital only stations, which is the total number of different (unique) people who listen to a DAB+ only radio station in that market for at least eight minutes (one quarter-hour), in a defined period.
Cume is such a misleading figure. The best at breakfast in Sydney is Edge with a cume of 31k for that session. That's less than the cume of Sky Sports, which manages a breakfast share of 1.4% and an average audience of 13k. So we can assume Edge has less than that. And that's the best of digital radio at the best time of the day. Doesn't sound very commercial.
