Edge Radio increases exposure for Tasmanian musicians

Edge Radio has launched a new online initiative dedicated to providing additional promotional opportunities for Tasmanian artists through free music downloads.

Each month the Edge Radio website will showcase a free Tasmanian download, it could be a new single, B-side or remix,  whatever the act chooses.

Station Manager Melanie Page has told radioinfo: “The idea behind our new initiative is that it will be a free music download service, designed to increase potential audiences for both Edge Radio and Tasmanian musicians.“

Edge will give the artist added exposure in promoting the featured download of the month and the artist can direct all traffic to the site to receive the track. The new media platform allows users to access media on demand and listen or download songs at their leisure.

“We’re hoping that the service will attract new audiences to Tasmanian music. They can listen to or download new music without obligation but hopefully this will lead to increased awareness of local artists, attendance at live music events and CD sales.”

The online initiative is being launched with songs performed by artists at the recent Amplified live broadcast Edge Radio conducted in the Elizabeth Street Mall. The featured songs are live performances from local artists Andrew Marshall, Ben Wells, Billy Whims and Joe Nuttall. It was assisted through funding from Arts Tasmania by the Minister for the Arts.

Tasmanian artists wishing to have their song featured on the service should contact Station Manager Melanie Page at [email protected]
